Termites are insects commonly known as “white ants”. Termites are not ants at all! Termites are more closely related to cockroaches! Termites eat wood, which attracts them to homes with wooden structures and internal walls.
There are over 300 species of termite in Australia, but only some of these are likely to attack your house and are capable of causing significant damage.
Termites live in nests and have a complex life cycle. The queen can produce up to 2,000 eggs a day. Some established colonies can have millions of termites.
